Inspired by the geometric poetry of Fan Ho and the nocturnal intimacy of Brassaï, Jay is able to find the still and tranquil moments in the chaotic scenes of Hong Kong: Like a fisherman standing and waiting quietly on the street, he watches the flow of light and shadow, lingering in the city’s movement to capture the ephemeral beauty of real. His work extracts fleeting fragments of human life from the complex of the urban landscape, shaped by bold, dramatic contrasts that bring subtle theatricality to the ordinary. Within conflicting visual elements, he finds harmony — a natural extension of his life philosophy and the art of mixology, telling hidden stories of the city through what he calls silent dialogue. He seeks to preserve the authentic moments of daily living experience, using images to carry genuine emotion and build a spiritual connection with the viewer. He invites us to look again at the granted, to discover beauty in the overlooked, and to interpret everyday scenes into visual narratives filled with stories. In this quiet transformation from the mundane to the magical, every image becomes a personal, heartfelt tune that touches the soul. — Sin Sin Fine Art and Po-ting Chen
