Herve Maury was born in Montmartre, Paris in 1961 and he spent his childhood in Toulon, a small harbour in the south of France. In 1984, he graduated in Management and Economics from the University of Marseilles and started his profession in construction work. Interesting enough, his career as a painter and graphic designer started when he decided to decorate his house with his own unique and striking animal paintings.
During the following years, Herve collaborates with textile and object designers such as "Latitude Sud" and develops a creative range of his signature animal drawings. As Herve becomes a full-time passionate artist, he participates in various solo and group exhibitions in France, Monaco, Spain and UK. He has also created special collections for the Centre Pompidou's (French National Museum of Modern Art) museum shop. In 2006, his "polar bear" series freshen up the windows of Hermes airport boutiques worldwide.
After 15 years of painting, the theme of animals still remains as the beating heart of Herve's artworks. His paintings are full of tenderness and humor, starring animals with captivating round eyes which immediately instill a genuine dialogue with the viewer. Continuous endeavor has also taken Herve to experiment painting his animal series on recycled marine sails, where he finds a new challenge and pleasure in mastering such uncommon material.
