Antoinette Rozan
French sculptor Antoinette Rozan was born in Paris in 1970. Currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
Grew up in a family of artists: painters, architects, engravers; Antoinette was particularly influenced by her two grandfathers: one a collector and the other a Chief Architect of the French Historic Monuments who handled the restoration project of the Loire Castles.
Antoinette also admires the work of sculptors Camille Claudel for the strength of the emotions she expresses, Aristide Maillol for the round and smooth forms of his sculptures and Giacometti for the power of his work.
"Sculpting helps me live my life, to get answers - looking backwards and to the future. The pieces masterized in clay are related to this personal journey into my feelings. The pieces masterized in plaster, such as 'Elastic' & 'Calligraphist' reflect surprise and freedom; particularly as each individual sculpture can become a number of new different sculptures depending on how it is hung; like life, anything is possible!"
Antoinette's sculptures reflect strong emotions and deliver a message about the essence, the instinct of life.
