Tisna Sanjaya's Cabinet Artwork, Indonesia

Samagaha... Ngabungbang (Eclipse... Unification Ritual)

The basins that I am using to create my installation is an artefact with spiritual values, they are containers commonly used to keep important things in our daily lives. These basins are usually used to keep water, food, rice, nasi tumpeng (ceremonial rice dish), money collected during ceremonies, etc.

I would stack the dishes into a kind of 'basin monument'. Each basin would be filled with things that hold spiritual memories for me and my environment, such as water and found objects from the performance art piece in which I washed the feet of the people in the area that I came across.

The purpose of this work is to build interactions and conversations with various kind of people through creating art using ordinary objects found in daily life. The transparent boxes supporting the basin installation would be filled with soil and plants.

May this work have some use for us all.
